Ray Charles is the upcoming single from Chiddy Bang, off his next album Breakfast.
True to its name sake, Ray Charles consists of soul-filled melodies with pianos and brass instruments, as well as Chiddy’s own hip hop beats. The chorus consists of gospel choir reciting the American musician’s name before Chiddy raps over the top of the continuing soul themes.
The song is quite repetitive with ‘Ray Charles’ being chanted over 20 times but it does have more meaning that Duck Sauce’s ‘Barbara Streisand’.
Upon first hearing it, you may mistakenly hear ‘Craig Charles’ which would would take on a completely different meaning.
Chiddy Bang are rapper and MC Chidera ‘Chiddy’ Anamege and producer Noah ‘Xaphoon Jones’ Bersin. The duo have sold over 500,000 downloads of their first single Opposite of Adults which reached number 11 in the UK singles chart.
Ray Charles is a good feeling song and you’ll be hearing more of it with its release on 26th February, along with Chiddy Bang’s debut album Breakfast on 28th February 2012.
