Involvement: September 2008 – Present

I started a BTEC course in Media Production at Peterborough Regional College (PRC) in September 2008.

During my first year of my two year course, I was elected in my course group to represent my fellow students at the Student Parliament which was lead by the Student Union. I discussed issues which affected the group with other students in the Media department and also with the head of department.

Towards the end of my first year I stood for the role of Centre Officer for Broadway Media & Journalism Centre on the Peterborough Regional College Student Union (PRCSU). Out of the others that stood for the position I was elected to take on the position.

Since then I have attended Student Union meetings and also implemented means of communication between the main college campus and the Broadway Media & Journalism Centre.

Also as part of my role on the Student Union I have taken part in a few events that the Union has been involved with.

  • Fresher’s Fayre – Sept 2009 – Music DJ, Announcer and Audio Engineer
  • Student Union Course Representative Training – Nov 2009 – Workshop leader and Audio Engineer
  • Fashion Show – Dec 2009 – Audio Engineer and Music DJ
  • Diversity Day – Jan 2010 – Compère

As a media student and website developer I also got involved with the Virtual Learning Enviroment (VLE) at the college. I help monitor and update the SU pages on the site and also moderate the Student Parliament Forums.
