Involvement: April 2007 – August 2008

In April 2007, I stood up for an election at the Gleed Boys School to sit on the South Holland Youth Council which was being formed, representing the Spalding secondary school.

I was on the Student Council at the school and reported between the two with issues that students believed should be sorted out in the South Holland area.

Within a few months, I then took on the role on the council of Communication Portfolio Holder. My first job and decision was to create a website for the SHYC. I went to the Youth Opportunities Fund and applied for a grant which would enable me to buy hosting and a domain name on behalf of the organisation. The aim of the website was to inform the local youth about the actions of the SHYC but also with local information. I was also able to help provide an email service for the SHYC members as well so that communication between council members was easy and fast.

In August 2008, I left the SHYC because my education took place outside of South Lincolnshire.

The South Holland Youth Council still continues to operate to this day, however I am no longer the webmaster.
